Any steel or metal estimators out there?

Alright I have to do an estimating project for a firehouse and my part is to do metals. I have to find structural steel, cold formed metal frames, steel trusses, and metal fabrications, and I'm having a good bit of trouble with it. Anybody here think they can help?

Help with what? Identifying members? Identifying weights? Cost? Erection duration?
Short Answer: All of your solutions are in the text books...and Google.

Use $0.60/pound for formed steel prices
Best bet for actual prices would be to contact a manufacturer.

I'm not doing your project for you. You got all of that stuff like 2 months ago, dude. Google it.
Hint: contact the company who actually built that building

google what you want and they should give you info on suppliers...or just send the info to a fabricator to give an estimate

Here's some steel estimation software that's free to use for 3 weeks:

Also, I'm sure you could find suppliers that would go over the plans and tell you what you need. Forward the schematics to two different ones, compare the recommendations/prices between the two.
ETA: Are you a building science major? Is this a project?

Dude seriously?!? A steel take off takes like 20 mins, those projects were a joke in school.

Somebody waited till the last minute to do their project.

Is this for school? Go to Barnes and Noble and look in an RS Means construction estimating book.
