Any other Baws try working at Sasol only to get the kickback blues

I personally had trucks working out there for Kent until Mr Tiger found out I was white and wouldnt pay the kickback to him. Ha Ha looks like them chickens are coming home to roost for Tiger and Kent.
Hey Tiger
Sasol accused of unfair trade practices
Hey Tiger
Sasol accused of unfair trade practices
quote:
n the filing’s section detailing financial kickbacks, Tyler Smith, an employee of Kent Materials and a defendant listed in the petition, is said to have contacted one of the petitioners in December 2014. He is accused of demanding payments from the petitioners in order for them to continue working on the project.
quote:
According to the document, the issue was then brought to Mike Hayes, Sasol public affairs manager and also a defendant in the petition. Hayes is accused of being provided with audio of the arrangements of the kickbacks and “turning a deaf ear” to the companies — an action the petitioners said was followed by a “substantial effort” to keep them from receiving work opportunities.
quote:
The audio recording detailed in the petition is said to be of truck drivers talking about paying kickbacks to “Tiger.” The petition lists trucking company owner Roosevelt “Tiger” Canty as a defendant.

Met a guy from New Iberia who was trying to buy a truck to haul into Sasol because his padna had a "hook up". Said you slide a little cash under the table and your running 24 hrs a day.

The whole "kickback" thing is a normal south louisiana business practice which I am used to dealing with. You are always going to have those people but this guy Tiger hates white people and went out his way to get white business owners off the job, So frick you Tiger. Hope it was worth it man.

That title is fricked up. It's not Sasol. Just some trucking companies.

No BAW, Sasol was encouraging this behavior.

The petitioners said that after providing Sasol with the documentation, they were further blackballed from the project, despite being promised that an executive “in charge of procurement” would get their trucks back into the trucking rotation. Sasol is accused of denying the companies work for about four weeks after being presented with the requested evidence.
So Sasol received the information and didn't just act. They probably have some red tape to go through. This is the only wrongdoing that the article says is done by Sasol.
ETA: I'm taking this as the turning a deaf ear section. 4 weeks to go through allegations and evidence for a billion dollar project. Doesn't seem unreasonable. Not saying what Kent did was right. You probably know more info than what is in the article.

I had some mildly retarded guy requesting proposals for some higher up....what was requested was very vague and very hard to cost. Yet I did so and implored them to speak with me directly to explain what they wanted to use the work for. Nothing.
A few weeks later I get a request from California to be a sub for the same area with specific details about what they wanted. Much less expensive.
Burned my arse up. Waste my time as a local then send the job for bid all around the US.
The non action on the kickback scheme doesnt surprise me somehow. I'm betting they have so much shite going on at once they are under water.

A lot of them never got back on the job. A lot of them were staying in hotels while working there. Do you know the cost of having your trucks sit there for 4 weeks with no work? It aint cheap.

No doubt. I'm just looking at the grand scale of things. For all I know the Sasol guy may be dirty as hell. I'm just saying the article is very vague about it. With all the grants and funding raising a red flag on a project this size isn't something that should be taken lightly and can understand the 4+ weeks of going through the evidence/information.

I get that but why make these guys sit there. Whats the big in letting these trucks run?

It becomes a liability to have them back on-site until the details are clear. I'm not saying you're shady but there are several shady people/contractors in the world. Lot's of people looking to make a quick pay-day or just cause more trouble for the owner to get payback. It's just an all around sensitive situation.

My cousin was negotiating a large contract with Sasol people for over a year. Told me he wasn't comfortable with the demands they were making. Think he bailed on that contract and got into a different, smaller one.

And I see that point as well.
why the no action on the kent employee when presented with direct evidence of wrong doing? This guy Tiger was creating a hostile work environment. I personally had my trucks vandalized twice while working out there and it was because of the shite Tiger was pulling.

Site specific is out of my wheel house. Anything will just be conjecture on my part. I don't know what he did with the information. If he sent it through the proper channels or if he sat on it because he was guilty/involved? I do not know. I do believe that either way it will come to light.
