Any of you ever have a-hole bosses that you had to deal with?

Like I said last week, I’m getting ready to resign from my current job. My boss is a dick so it’ll be interesting to see what his reaction is. I’m guessing he will be angry.

How should I go about resigning? Any of you ever had a situation like this and how did you go about resigning? Should I be a dick or should I keep it completely professional?

Professional. Don’t lower yourself to his level. Kill him with kindness. You never know how being a prick will effect you later in life.

Been there. Done that.

Be as professional as possible

When he asks what it’ll take to keep you on staff, tell him no thanks. When he pushes even harder, tell him it’ll take his resignation for you to consider staying

Never burn that bridge. You never know if you will ever need a reference down the road.

A cop told me one time about getting a ticket fixed. His boss would always call him on a ticket he wrote if the person wanted it fixed. If he didn’t remember you it was good to go. Act like a dick or a bitch and he probably remembers and would tell his boss don’t fix.

Be a dick and he will remember you down the road. Act professionally and you’ll have nothing to worry about more than likely.

Yep, last job I ever had I escaped a horrible boss. Just keep it cordial if you are looking to get another job. Don't want to get a bad recommendation.

OTOH, if you're retiring, bring out the flamethrowers!

In any event, you'll be happy once you walk away from that a-hole.

Don't burn the bridge. HR and others talk. You never know what is passed from one source to another.

I resigned because my boss was a prick. In the new position I was in his shoes .....Had the entire sales team and staff. Made corrections and did 140% of plan in the first full year. Ran into them at a major Trade Show. He smarted off "You never did that with us!" "Fired back, you never left me alone! Move out of my way, I do some pretty amazing work."

Quietly.

Do the rest of your time. Get the frick out and don’t burn any bridges. You may need them in the future.

I'm lucky to have never had an a-hole boss, they've all been reasonable and affable. I don't know how I'd react to having an a-hole boss, I imagine I'd look for another job and make sure HR knows my reason for leaving is my a-hole boss.

My boss said we all had to go back to the office because of 2 bad apples he didn't want to confront due to him being a pussy. Of course my boss is still working from home.

Depends on the industry. My industry is rather small so it's not good for people to burn bridges

One supreme dick head who had just been given me and my teams a couple weeks previous and up until then had been my peer. He thought it would be cool to big dog me with a PIP. But being the complete dipshit he is, forgot that I was about to close a big deal to fund the company up to the IPO. So, I quit, they fixed some shite and kept me, I closed the deal and took my IPO bonus and left. Now they're one of my bigger clients.

Moral of the story is try not to be a bigger dick. Usually there's someone who's reasonable and it's never fun to burn bridges.
