Pretty high flames and fireballs. There didn't seem to be too much response yet since there was only two water hoses spraying on it.

That was at Williams in paridis. It has been burning since last night about 7. I'm guessing they are just letting it burn out as no one seems to concerned in 12 hrs

Thanks coon. Definitely no immediate rush from what I saw. I'm just not that familiar with that area. Thanks for the update.

Were you the guy with the truck nuts that slowed to about 20mph as you passed it to post this thread and almost caused a pileup?

They aren't trying to put it out. It has to burn out.

That being said, is hwy 90 open?

You let LNG fires burn out once the pipeline is isolated. Much safer than putting folks in harms way since you aren't going to extinguish quickly anyway.

I understand the safety aspect of why you let this burn out.

If push came to shove and they needed to extinguish the fire, would they be able to do what the US had to do during Desert Storm when Iraq lit all of Kuwaits wells on fire?

If I remember, they used a controlled explosion the knock all of the oxygen out of the fire, then capped the blowout.

That's a last resort option and really expensive.

Tygerfan, I was driving to work and didn't have time to search. I have no experience with natural gas explosions as most people don't.

Please go police the board and get your rocks off somewhere else.

Thanks to everyone who gave some valuable information and a little education.
