What is the best way to sale jewelry and what can I expect to get for it? According to the papers it's "retail value" is $7500 but what would someone likely pay for it?

They are worth a lot when you buy one. Ain't worth shite if you are trying to sell one.

I had one that appraised for $3,500 nobody wanted to buy it, I ended up getting $800 from a guy in Lafayette that buys diamonds. The jewelry industry is the biggest scam of all time

Diamonds are not rare. Companies keep them locked away and only release 1/20th of them to keep supply down. So glad my wife hates jewelry. Diamonds are a waste of money.

You will be lucky to get $1000

Tell her it is your grandmothers diamond. Makes it even more valuable.

I paid 12.5k for a ring for my now ex wife at Christmas. The following July she sold it for $1800.
I was more pissed about that then our impending divorce

Went through this and had the help of a buddy who has a family jewelry business. This is going to sound fricked up but you are going to get 10% to 15% of the retail / appraisal value. Crazy.

30% of retail value is what you may get

If that diamond doesn’t have a GIA grading, it isn’t worth much

Did you insure it? Worth more stolen than if you sell it... sad but true.

You'll be very disappointed.
The entire diamond industry is a gigantic racket. The less you deal with it, both buying and selling, the better off you'll be.
The hard part is convincing your woman.

Call it “estate jewelry” and get a premium. Just take it out of the Zales box first.

They'll just replace the ring and he's back to square one. They aren't giving him cash
