Heard they're pretty good at locating truffles. Guy at work bought one and said the people who owned it before him had it locate roughly $250,000 worth of truffles in the Tennessee hills near Chatanooga / Blackberry Farms.

I've been wondering about how to teach my dog to locate truffles.

I can't see a German shepherd being an efficient truffle hunter to be honest.

You can purchase one of the lagottos from Blackberry Farm. Last time I was there, I think the price tag was around 10K and the wait was roughly 4 to 5 years.

It's an investment. You spot me the 10K. I'll quit my day job and find truffles with this Lagotto full time around Asheville. We'll split the profit.

The 10K was just for a puppy... not trained or anything. I have no clue what goes into teaching a dog to dig up truffles. I thought the ones that were worth good money only grew in Italy or something?

That dog makes more money in a day then you do in 100 consecutive McDonald's shifts.

The only truffles I'm familiar with are the ones on truffle fries and the ones I ate in Amsterdam that were like shitty shrooms.

You're probably thinking of white truffles. They only grow around Alba, Italy and can bring extraordinary prices.
