Played golf years ago, loved it, but was always horrible.
Would like to start playing again, but I imagine I'll be even more horrible.

Any suggestions for a course that is not busy, where I wouldn't have to constantly stop to let everyone else play through?
Of course I'll play with a triple bogey limit or something to keep things moving.
I just miss playing so much.
Also, I'm not a 17 year old with no bills to pay anymore, so please consider an affordable place.

TIA

Go to the range a few times before going on the course is the best advice. If you're constantly having to let people play through because you can only advance the ball 50 yards and to the right every shot, you shouldn't be on the course.

Regardless of location, probably best to go during typical work hours if you can swing it.

When I started playing, I would just go with friends that had always played. If I duffed, shanked one off the tee or went OB I'd just play my next shot from their ball.

Also it would prob be more beneficial to get quality range time in as opposed to being on a course shanking balls everywhere and not learning or figuring anything out.

yeah screw this. If the guy is letting people play through than there isnt an issue. If people are wanting to learn the game of golf and doing so with the correct golf etiquette than more power to them

If only one guy like him was allowed on the course every 6 hours, sure. But there is a reason that a round of golf can take 6 hours when the course is crowded.

You aren't learning the game on the course. That's what the range is for.

I think we found the real problem.

Its groups of 4 acting like they are playing for a green jacket that slow it down

It's across the river, but Westside in Brusly is almost always slow. Course isn't very long either, so that speeds it up. Almost no water or sand either, but narrow pine tree lined fairways. $18 during the week and $27 on weekend. That's all day rate too. You can play 36,54,..

Haha. Well I am a bit better than that.
Range does sound like a good idea though.
