People should understand that it is legal in Louisiana to kill a vicious dog if it off of it's leash or outside of its containment area. Whether it's on your property or not.

The neighbors should have ended this problem years ago.

For a dog that has attack claims against it, how do they continue to let it out and roam free? They are not very hyper vigilant about keeping neighbors safe and a part of their "family" from being hauled off to animal control.

I never let my dogs out of my fenced in yard unless on a leash or in a vehicle. They have never attacked anyone, and if they did then I would have to strongly consider putting them down for safety and liability reasons. They are a part of my family, but no dog is more important than human lives/safety when there is a documented past history.

As for the comment section at the end of the article...are the people saying that this dog did not attack anyone? Pretty crazy to claim that the people with attack photos are making this up. I bet the 19 incidents are somewhat embellished though.

I am blown away to read that article. I have a friend who works with the dog owner and I have been following her battle with Animal Control. Her story was VASTLY different than what is in the article linked in the OP. Two sides to every story and all that but not sure how they are going to get past 19 prior incidents.

That being said, it is kind of screwy that they ruled the dog "dangerous" and the owners did all the required actions only to have Animal Control change their minds and come back to say they now want to kill the dog.

All the neighbors petitioned for it because they don't want the dog to attack them again.

I was more commenting on the fact that Animal Control only went with Dangerous the first time. If they had 19 reports it seems like they would have gone straight to vicious. I never like when the government decides something and then changes its mind and comes back over the top. If they rule and you fulfill the requirements then it seems like they are obligated, absent changing circumstances, to abide by their ruling.
