yea unless they have some evidence showing that he knew the baby was in there and just said "frick it", then second degree murder is a pretty fricked up charge
IF you're going to charge somebody for this type of thing, negligent homicide is really as much as you can do

'Cause this is the problem...not that BOTH of these pieces of shite killed their children.

You would think he learned his lesson with the dogs.

I bet if that baby was a smartphone it wouldn't have gotten left in the car

I don't understand how charges have not been filed on the other lady. Just read the article and it appears they are looking for ways not to pursue charges, the DA sounds like a dumbass.
So the Sheriff determines if there is enough to pursue charges? I thought that fell in the DA's wheelhouse. Also, wouldn't forgetting your daughter in the car for 7 hours essentially be the definition of negligence?

"We'll again the sheriff department has at this point the initial facts to make that assessment and they're going to have to determine is this a tragic accident or was this mother negligent to the point where she caused the death of her child," Guest said.

In LA, absolutely
the only reason people dont get charged for this type of thing is because, generally, there is no punishment that the state can give them that is worse than the loss of their child
but almost everyone of these cases could be prosecuted as negligent homicide
I remember following a case like this (a couple years ago, not in louisiana), where i believe they had evidence that the father purposely left his child in the car so that it would die and he claimed it was an accident, but officers could tell right away that something was up because his reaction was all wrong
well they searched his computer and he had been googling things like "how long does it take a baby to die in a hot car" and fricked up shite like that
but without evidence of some sort of intent, negligent homicide is really as far as you can go with prosecuting these cases
ETA: this is the case i was referring to:

Authorities have painted Harris as a terrible father who, after admittedly looking up online how hot a car needed to be to kill a child, purposely strapped his son into his sweltering SUV to die.

This comment was made already in the last Hyundai-Oven Roasted Baby thread. Try being original. Yes I am the comment police.

Justin Ross Harris, the Georgia man facing murder charges in his 22-month-old son's hot car death in 2014, has been indicted on eight charges of "sexting" with minors, according to court documents.
Harris, a 34-year-old resident of an Atlanta suburb, was charged with two counts of sexual exploitation of children and six counts of dissemination of harmful materials to minors, according to the bill of indictment from the Cobb County grand jury.
The indictments involve three girls under the age of 18. Harris is accused of possessing digital photos of the genitalia of two of the girls, sending digital photos of male genitalia to two girls and sending "detailed verbal descriptions and narrative accounts of sexual excitement and sexual conduct" four times.

I never saw that thread.
But if it'll help your struggling ego to tell you I stole it from you then we can go with that.

I didn't. I think its absolutely fricking ridiculous that this occurs as frequently as it does.

This article on the topic won a Pulitzer and is a great read if you want some insight on why/what "kind" of people do this:

What kind of person forgets a baby?
The wealthy do, it turns out. And the poor, and the middle class. Parents of all ages and ethnicities do it. Mothers are just as likely to do it as fathers. It happens to the chronically absent-minded and to the fanatically organized, to the college-educated and to the marginally literate. In the last 10 years, it has happened to a dentist. A postal clerk. A social worker. A police officer. An accountant. A soldier. A paralegal. An electrician. A Protestant clergyman. A rabbinical student. A nurse. A construction worker. An assistant principal. It happened to a mental health counselor, a college professor and a pizza chef. It happened to a pediatrician. It happened to a rocket scientist.

What were they both doing while their kids were in the car? Sorry, but that link doesn't work for me right now.

I think both should be charged. Accident or not, leaving a child in a car to bake to death should be some kind of crime.
