I am sure Albemarle wanted to leave. NC is just paying the moving expenses.

That's how the movie business works too.

My companies headquarters is near charlotte. If an opportunity arises, i will seriously consider moving there. Could send my kids to public school and save $15k/yr, after taxes. Would be an hour or so from the mountains, and 3 hours from the beach. Hot in the summer, not a ridiculously cold winter. Only thing it doesn't have is mine and my wifes extended family.

North Carolina tore down their statue and now they get our jobs. If only Baton Rouge wasn't full of nazis and klansmen maybe we could have held on to them.

Incentives don't work if people only come here because of the incentive. Incentives might get them in the door but you have to give them a reason to stay. And in LA... we aren't doing that.

Nah bro, that's too difficult to understand. What with the economics and stuff behind it. Just blame it on black people!!

tually NC gave them less in incentives than LA originally did when they were lured here in 2008 or 9.

thought Albemarle had been here longer than that.

I was born & raised in south Louisiana. Went to LSU for undergrad & MBA school, lived in Baton Rouge for 10 years.

Moved to Charlotte in 2015.

From a quality of life standpoint (weather/geography/conveniences) it's a no brainer: Charlotte > Baton Rouge

If Louisiana wants to be attractive to businesses, it needs to get it's collective shite together.

Me and the wife were talking a few weeks ago, and both in agreement on one thing. The only thing keeping us here right now (other than our current jobs) is immediate family still being alive. If it wasn't for that, we'd move in a heartbeat.

LA paid a lot more than that originally to get them here.

Thank you Jindal and the Secretary of Economic Development at the time.

Not shocking. They raise taxes every year in Louisiana and it's an overly litigious state. Add the poor education and infrastructure.

The only family we have left here are kids and we have an exit strategy-North Carolina is high on the list. Of course it might depend on where kids land but it won't be here. I've given about as much as I'm willing to give and while it's still a few short years away I don't see it changing. We've planned for this for many years.

It's not mind boggling IBM didn't build that building the state did that via some fancy wording, tax incentives, management deal etc... They basically paid them to come here and fluff up the economy and will simply leave once that deal run out because the infrastructure and quality of life suck so bad there. It'll be no reason to stay once free rent and tax breaks reach a limit. Call it falsely inflated economy by the local and state government. The whole downtown thing isn't TRUE growth artificial government funded that'll crash.

Brother my wife LOVE her immediate family and I thought she'll NEVER leave she did and love it. If you both feel that way move you only live once and not getting younger family will understand, they'll get over it and you'll give them a cool place to visit.

Gravy Chambers has emailed me a statement regarding this news he would like me to post here:

"After years of stealing tax payer money via tax incentives from the hard working people of NBR, I am glad they are leaving. They did nothing to help our people or communities and only served to stuff the pockets of the White Man in Baton Rouge. #Racist #WhiteBusiness #America2017"
