Amite bridge on Hwy 190 weekend beachgoers?

Anyone here do this? I passed this weekend and there had to be 10 vehicles and 20-30 people either walking to the river or already there.

Somebody drowns there at least once a year.

The Amite isn't that deep by 190. I thought it's deeper closer to Port Vincent?

It's not the depth that you have to worry about. The bottom is very "shifty" with lots of holes. Almost like a quicksand bottom.
