Good news for Amazon’s expansion plans in the US. Good for their current and future employees.

Lol, they do a job that amazon already has the technology to automate, and they make $15 min wage.

What do they need a union for exactly?

Amazon is probably one of the few companies that I would want to be in a union if I worked there. A company that big and powerful will always treat their people like shite.

Is there a choice? Amazon would probably leave.

Don't they know that Amazon works their employees into the ground?

I'm not kidding, they are literally turned into mulch as they try to fulfill our orders for funny dog sweaters.

Not only are they voting against the union, but it appears the vote count is not even close. Amazing how many people on twitter that are upset over this. I don't understand why anyone would be upset that people like their jobs and feel like they are being treated fairly. The union really thought because of the African American population they could step in and get a foothold. This is going to be an extremely embarrassing loss for them. This is a huge win for hard working people that like to be rewarded for their work.

I thought you had to be skilled to unionize.

Damn, it's crazy that those people with whips and guns won't let them leave either.

I get that they're free to leave at any time. I've kind of veered away from the "private businesses are always good" after what we've seen over the last few years.

These companies will 100% band together to impose whatever they want on the general public.

smart move. Union would only hurt them in the long run.

The blue collar workforce in the state (ie AL's significant automotive manufacturing industry) has been very resistant to unionizing for a long time. And trust me when I say the unions ha e tried very, very hard to get their foot in the door there with very little success.

I work in an union environment as a manager. The union is a giant PIA, but I'm sure my benefits wouldn't be near what they are without the union. I'm salaried, paid sick leave, which I was off 5 months last year and didn't miss a check, 21 paid holidays, I work most, and get 3X my rate, 1.5X for anything over 40 hours, 2X for Sundays, and 6 weeks paid vacation. There's lots more, but those are the highlights.

There are plenty of laws already in place to protect the safety and well-being of employees in this country.

Unions serve no purpose except to protect poor workers and promote based on seniority. Kudos to Alabama for this vote.
