We have multiple Alexa devices and mostly they are just bluetooth speakers that we occasionally use as a kitchen timer and a weather update device.

Pretty much all we use ours for too. I rarely use their "free" music either now that it forces that shitty arse shuffle shite on you.

This subscription based monetization model is killing everything.

Alexa is a glorified Bluetooth speaker, but it has some useful purposes. Typical timers and unit conversions, reminders, announcements, intercom-type system to other devices in the house, etc. We use ours multiple times a day.

I don’t want more stuff in my house recording every sound. I don’t need a friend, I need a refrigerator.

Isn't 1 money spending female per household enough?

Alexa plays music and makes farting noises for my kids. That’s about all I got.

Speaking of myself, I would have Alexa’s all over the house, but I’m just not wanting to take that extra dive into automation. I’ve had enough tech.

I was sure tempted to put a Big Tech 007 spy into every room of the house but this little voice in my head kept saying, "Not a good idea!". Had to pass.

Gee i wonder why they would basically give it away. I'm sure it's only listening when you say "hey Alexa", and not spying on you 24/7.
