Am I wrong thinking it's distasteful to propose at someone else's wedding?

Went to a wedding and at the reception some guy proposed to his gf and apparently the bride gave the ok.

frick that. If someone did that at my wedding, I would hire PJ to END THEIR LIFE.

Seriously though, that's terrible and should never be done.

I guess it's ok if the bride gave the ok, but it still seems pretty shitty. The day is supposed to be about the couple getting married. Make some other occasion about yourself.

Its totally not cool unless done in a discreet manner IMO, like maybe privately

From an old Irish folk song-

"Now I've often heard it said from me father and me mother
That the going tae a wedding is the making of another
Well, if this be true, I will go without a biddin'
O kind providence, won't you send me tae a wedding?"

Old Maid in the Garrett

So it's been going on a while.

Way more sentences and thought than the actual Rodo puts in.

Of course she did, not like she was going to say no when someone has the audacity to even ask permission for something like that.

It is 100% distasteful. Very poor judgement.

Not me. Although I do recognize Rodo avatar. It's the one and only gun and liquor store in schulenberg tx. My only alter attempt after a banning was Nextel cup (to show I am reformed) but it was denied and I got a private message from admin telling me I could only have one account

I could maybe see it as being ok if it was a very tight knit group of people who had all been friends for a long time. Otherwise, it is distasteful imo.

I can see where many people would be upset by it, but then again, most people are self absorbed assholes, especially on their wedding day.

As for me, if a friend or family member wanted to propose marriage to their sweetheart at my wedding reception, I'd be honored!

My friend's brother proposed to his gf at her wedding.

My friend knew about it ahead of time though(she was even excited about it). She is very close to her brother and let the wedding photographer know about it ahead of time and had the photographer take pics of the proposal and of the bride/groom with newly engaged couple afterwards. She got married on the beach in Mexico in a very small ceremony though so everyone there knew her brother and his gf very well.

She is originally from Mexico (legal U.S. citizen now) and her brother and parents live in Mexico(dual citizenship) so she doesn't see him and her parents often so I think she was just happy it happened at a time when they were all together as a family.

Maybe toward the end of the reception but only with brides okay. (I'd say groom except guys don't care about that shite).

Aside from the whole taking attention from the actual wedding couple, I don't understand why anyone would ever want to propose at a wedding. Nothing about it is special or unique. It's pretty Half arse IMO

It goes up the trashy scale if it's the bride's ex doing the asking.
