I used to think the same thing too but those will last 20+ years and can be resoled several times. They are really cheaper than the $99 Dillards specials if you wear dress shoes for work every day. I don't anymore but I used to.

I’m sure there is some merit to that. But paying $500 for a glorified pair of Doc Martens seems pretty silly on the surface. But you do you, Scotty P.

Never had AE. I am a Johnston Murphy lifer. Their shoes are so comfy.

I wear boat shoes a lot. I used to go through a pair of Sperrys about once per year at $100/pair. I decided to try a pair of AE boat shoes. $200 or so and they are like 8 years old now and haven't even been resoled yet. You can get a much better quality product in that price range.
