TJP, TGR, and myself just got back from st Thomas/ St. John. I'd definitely say stay in St. John. Much cooler area. St Thomas was alright and Magen's bay was beautiful. But St John's was awesome. Get a burger at Woody's in Cruz bay.
ETA: bring your own poon. There's like a 8-1 guy to girl ratio there.

It's not like there are much nicer places to stay on JvD. It's pretty barren. Ivan is a really nice guy (though experiencing dementia at this point).

Forgot about the resort on Peter Island. Awesome place. No cars. Nothing commercial. Just the resort and beautiful beaches. Incredible place for a couple to escape too
