The safe tint for viewing eclipse is 13 or 14. All I can find is 10 and 11. Should I double up 2 tens or put the 11 lens over a pair of sunglasses?

There's probably a factor of safety in determining the 13/14 number.
Wear the 10/11 you have and let us know how it goes.

I'm going to wear two pairs of sunglasses, an eye patch, and a black quilt over my face to make sure I can see it safe.

I've got shade 9 and have looked at the sun like 5 times already. I think you should be fine
Edit: I meant I've got shade 9 not 10

I was told doubling up 10's is not safe. 14 or bust

I was an ironworker for 15 years. I had a #10 in my shield and looked at the sun all the time. Wear it in conjuntion with some dark sunglasses and you'll be fine.

It's safe to stack. That's what we are doing.
Edit: Those are shade 10 welding glasses, not sunglasses. When worn under the shade 10 masks, we are definitely safe.

Thx. So can I wear my regular "trendy" sunglasses (I'm a girl) or should I buy some that look like yours? Where'd you buy those?

Should have left that little bit of information out.
Prayers.

Sorry m'am. Those are #10 welding glasses. It's too late. My mom and stepdad are engineers for a pipe fabricator. You won't find those at Academy.

STFU. I'm a girl too. There will be just as many males with a black spot in their vision next year.
