I thought it was known they are moving headquarters to Charlotte. Will have little to no effect on previous locations

This is the 3rd major publicly traded company to leave Baton Rouge. Shaw was acquired, Amedisys moved to Nashville, and now Albemarle to Charlotte. 2 of the top 10 public companies in Louisiana move HQs in a matter of months.

Only 2 public companies left in the Baton Rouge area now Lamar and H&E Equipment Services.

and CenturyLink continues to expand and add more jobs up in Monroe

Slow your roll. Amedisys opened a satellite office in Nashville to attract more executive talent. Their corporate operations is still here in Baton Rouge.

That's a questionable move considering American Airlines is going to bone Charlotte Douglas.

This is true. In 5 years or less, Charlotte Douglass will look like Memphis, Cincy, or Pittsburgh....lots of empty gates.

Fortunately for most of us employed at the PDC, it is business as usual. Mostly upper level management leaving, unfortunate for BR but the move is necessary. The PDC will continue to employ about 500 and it's not going anywhere.

This. This. This.
Nothing like having a outside sales job where you're close to home.

I spent a week in Charlotte at a conference. It was a pretty city but was really lame. It was like a big Mayberry. I have no desire to go back.

Baton Rouge is like the shitty aspects of Houston and the shitty aspects of Memphis combined to create one monumental frick of a town. But you have to admit, sometimes BR is so jacked up it's kind of endearing.

You probably never left the city center (Uptown), because that would be the only reason you would say that...a quick stroll about a half mile south to the 'south end' area would have given you a totally different perspective.

I wonder if there is a political reason for them moving so close time-wise together
