Did they stop using rivets?

I’m as anti DEI as it gets, but to think this is the sole cause of any of that is pretty retarded. That’s just the easy way to turn it into a political debate and look at the other side with a gotcha. Planes were crashing for decades due to shitty maintenance and the mechanics were pretty much 100% white guys back then. This is all about using the cheapest materials and vendors possible to maximize profit.

Solid post. The reason planes were crashing 20-30 years ago was because large scale airline travel was in its infancy and the procedures and processes weren't in place to catch mistakes. But Dei is just interjecting an unnecessary problem into the mix.

Maybe I’m ignorant as to how it all works but shouldn’t the airline have its own quality control and safety departments checking these kinds of things regularly?
I’m not trying to say it isn’t on Boeing too. But airplanes have tons of stress put upon them daily. Seems like you may want to do routine inspections with your fleet since small faults can turn into disastrous accidents very easily.

How old were these planes though? I'm not sure re-torquing internal airframe bolts during the first few hundred hours is a big priority.
Boeing and it's workers have been having disagreements over the last year or two regarding cuts in the Quality Assurance workforce. Boeing management is convinced that auto-logging computerized torque wrenches that log the readings as the plane is assembled for example are good enough to take the place of trained QA workers who used to go behind and double check the assembly work.
Think about the bonuses Management has reaped for the improved bottom line those cuts and reductions in headcount have produced!
But unions suck, amiright???

The corporate and legal types are the one who are pushing DEI.
DEI isn't what's causing planes to be built like shite. It's cost cutting for shareholders. This is happening in every industry. Everything is being turned to shite so investment companies get higher returns and management gets more bonuses.

You can usually tell when these problems are a manufacturing issue, a maintenance procedure issue or a maintenance personnel issue.
That was my father's job in his day. One night he asked me to go with him out to a hanger at midnight on Ft. Rucker. When we got there, he told me to watch the mechanics in the hanger and make sure they don't leave. He then went out to the flight line caught the maintenance crew sleeping the the helicopters.

Why does everything have a gd political or racial issue? Did you not see the documentary on Netflix on Boeing on after the 737 max crashes.
After they were bought by McDonnell Douglas or merged whatever they became a shite company that is solely focused on making money and putting out as shitty a product as they can get away with. It has nothing to do with anything but pure arse evil and greed. Some companies just suck because they suck.
Downfall: why Boeing sucks

Okay are planes getting more dangerous or more visibly dangerous?

I can see you’ve never stepped foot in the Boeing site in Slidell.
