Where is there enough land around LSU or Downtown for something the size of the zoo?

Just South of Cypress Mounds would be best.....going towards L'auberge.

Im am in favor of a new zoo in the city of Baton Rouge. Just did a quick look on google maps.
Audubon Zoo appears to be roughly 45-50 acres
Baton Rouge Zoo appears to be roughly 60 acres (maybe more)
I propose moving it to city park. It gives more incentive to redo the LSU lakes and would tie in nicely with downtown, LSU and projects along nicholson including the street car. City park is roughly 50 acres including the two lakes but not brooks park across the street. I would preserve that as a nature area/ park space like it is now.

I went twice this year. Once to actually look at the animals and the other time for their Christmas lights. Both were enjoyable experiences and better than I would have thought. I'd like to see it moved to the area between LSU and Lauberge as well.

Ideally, eminent domain the whole swath of trash between downtown and LSU and put it there. Or just leave it vacant. Whatever.

When Southern Closes put it there!

While at LSU I used to enjoy getting super blazed and taking my girlfriend to the shitty BR zoo. Nothing like seeing a cow, buffalo, and whitetail deer living together in harmony. $7 well spent.

Close the zoo and use that $110,000,000 for something BR actually needs.

When my kids were young, we were members. We called beautiful Saturday's "zoo days." Perfect way to spend an afternoon. We went two or three times a month for about five years.

Audubon zoo, the aquarium and global wildlife will always blow anything baton rouge fixes up or builds out of the water. Shut the BR zoo down and tell everyone to go to one of the other choices within 60 miles.
