The ones I know are arrogant, former high school baseball players who are mad they didn’t make the pros bc of an “injury”.

I played with the Home Depot team in a winter league that won the national Class C championship the prior year. Those fellas were dead serious about softball.

Most were former college and/or professional athletes.

Agreed, the booze and clinging on to the glory days is a great combination. The uniforms are also atrocious.

Witnessed a pitcher get a gun from his car between inning bc a batter ‘hit middle.’

These are all the travel ball players who didn’t make the majors, now they move to softball and become heroes.

“Would’ve taken state if it weren’t for…”
“Would’ve played at LSU if it weren’t for…”
“Would’ve gone pro if it weren’t for…”

I bet you regularly hear something along those lines in and adult softball dugout.

Sports is a lot of fun but anyone with a background in college or semi-pro ranks has always been extraordinarily competitive and usually still are. Comes with the territory.

Upper division softball is extremely competitive.
