Looking for some help finding an adjustable basketball goal.

I am having a tough time finding an adjustable basketball goal that goes from about 5 feet to 10 feet that doesn't have to be permanently installed. Every goal I've found either goes from 5' to 7.5' or 7.5' to 10'. My son is only 5, so he can't make it to a 7.5' goal, but I don't want to have to buy two goals if I don't have to.

Does anyone know of a portable goal that ranges that far? I realize this is a shot in the dark, but one can hope.

You want to teach him to ball?

Get a 10 footer.

Wow, thanks for your insightful post. What about wanting a basketball goal has to do with the Pussification of America? Because I want a basketball goal? Because I want my kid to be able to shoot on a goal that he can actually reach? Again, thanks for your valuable contribution.

Buy a rim for $20, put it on the side of the shed. You'll be taking it down in 6 months anyway once he can make the 7.5 footer.

Tell your kid I've seen a 5 year old knock down half court shots on a 10 footer, step it up.

I would just let him start chunking it at a 7.5'. You'll be surprised at how fast he'll build the strength up to get the ball that high. Not being an arse but my daughter at 5 can heave it up well enough on an 8' goal to be competitive with her 8 year old brother in horse.

Incorrect on a lot of posters part. If you want him to develop horrible form, make him shoot on a 10' goal as a 5 year old. Anyone with boys, or that has coached has seen this happen to kids. I'm sure other states have youth developmental leagues that play on lowered rims to encourage proper form and actual scoring to take place.

Youth leagues start at 5-6 years old and they play on an 8' goal. I don't think anybody is saying make him shoot on a 10' goal.

5 years is definitely old enough to be shooting on a 7.5 foot goal.

Maybe I'm Amazon inept, but could you please link what you are seeing? I haven't seen anything and am just curious as to what you found. Thanks.

I very much remember playing organized ball at 6 to 7 y/o and it was on an 8' rim placed on an existing 10 ft goal. So 7.5 should be fine when. Bc honestly why not just have him practice on a cheap plastic playschool type goal with a smaller ball anyway if you are worried about proper form. I know they go to 5 feet and probably cost around $50 or so.

Most of these responses are fair. I'm not saying he shouldn't be shooting higher. If he were on a team that played on an 8 foot goal then I would want him to shoot on that goal. However, he doesn't want to play basketball at all because he can't reach that high. I'm trying to just get him interested in the game. I realize that he will quickly shoot up to a higher rim, and I have no problem raising it when he can make it there. However, at this time, he needs a lower goal, which is why I'm looking for a goal with a decent amount of range.

What will he play on in league play. Whatever that is buy that goal. In a few years he will be moving up and that goal will be a rusted piece of shite. I destroyed my b ball rims. But i was a big kid.

Last bit of advise. Take it or leave it. If he's 5 he's going to get a lot bigger real soon. I just wouldn't drop much money on a 5'-7.5' goal. Get the 7.5'-10' and start with a smaller ball.

Thanks. I appreciate the advice. My thinking was not to buy the smaller one, and to just bite the bullet on the bigger one hoping he'll want to shoot on it if it's there. However, if what I am looking for was available, I'd probably buy it, but I have a feeling it isn't made.
