Why are people acting as if we don't know whether Sterling had a gun or not? I have seen several posters question this.

We already know that he had a gun and was armed. The store owner, who is pro-Sterling, has said that he saw the officers retrieve a gun from a Sterling's pocket. Furthermore, the additional footage that was released (second video) shows an officer pull a small gun from Sterling's pocket.

This has all been published in the Advocate, etc. What gives? Stop being morons. The issue is whether he reached for his gun (which is what the officers yelled) and whether he fired it.

....my guess is that it's because the video of the incident that has made the rounds doesn't clearly show a gun or Sterling's right hand.

I made the mistake in a post

We don't know if he he shot it?

Ok, I can see that the item that the cop pulled out the pocket is small and not completely identifiable on the video.

So why did the pro-Sterling store owner, who filmed the video, say it was a gun?

No, we'll find out soon. If he reached for it, IMO the cops are off the hook and it won't really even matter if he shot it or not. That's just the "icing on the cake" if he did fire it

Pretty simple to go search the video on Youtube and watch the police remove the gun from his pocket moments after Sterling gets shot. People who deny he had a gun have mental issues.

The VERY FIRST PROTESTOR of them all, was a black woman who called police because a (black) dude was waving a gun at a convenience store. She wanted peace in her neighborhood, and that is all.

Why no respect for the first person asking for help here?

Yep. The cops know what that object was. The investigators know what it was (and the general public will know this week).

But since it wasn't clear in the video, people make their own conclusions one way or another to support a position they already had. You know how this goes.

I have not seen the investigators release any facts. Do you want The Advocate to start publishing TD rumors?

Is video evidence, and first-hand testimony from the person who filmed the video who is pro-Sterling, a rumor? The Advocate published both the video and the store owner's interview.

So they published what the witness said about it?

What is your point?

I've only seen one video.

It's a grainy cell phone video and Sterling is partially obscured by a cop and the bumper of a car. It does look like he may be reaching for something. It's not clear enough to see what it is, so I'm not jumping to conclusions.

But I would be very surprised if he was reaching for a pack of cigarettes while resisting arrest.

That it's not a rumor. You can wait for Tuesday if you want it etched in stone. All signs point to a gun in the pocket, if you're not being obtuse

They've released a clearer, longer video since then. Also more graphic

If he was reaching for a gun (and the cops there would see this better than any video can show), I don't think it matters if he got a shot off.

It's not clear in the video and it hasn't been made public by the investigators. It's not obtuse to wait for the results of the investigation.

911 call is made about a black man in a red shirt wielding a gun at a convenience store.

Police apprehend a black man in a red shirt at the convenience store.

Police yell in panic, "He's got a GUN!"

Video shows police remove something from man's pocket, and it's the size of a gun.

Pro-Sterling person who filmed the video says it in fact was a gun.

I get that you can't see it completely in the video, but yeah, I would call denial of the presence of a gun as being obtuse. I understand waiting for the results on everything else. And I'm not one to jump to conclusions, but this really doesn't feel like a jump at all. Now saying he reached for it is a jump
