Just thought I'd share.

Melbourne, Australia was originally named "Batmania" because the city founder was John Batman.

I spotted the story on a documentary about poker players and the lead checked out.

Thought I'd share. csb

In British lingo, a batman is a sort of military butler for an army officer.

It's a terrible day when OT topic titles are click bait.

You disappoint me, foshizzle.

That's what I'd expect from north LA, naming a city after a bunch of dead wood

I'd always heard it was named after Shakespeare's play The Taming Of The Shreve

capt shreve was hired by the feds to clear the river of a log jam for the purposes of navigation and opening the country to trade.

He built the log moving boat in WV and brought it down the Ohio.
