My family is considering moving within a year, we have been looking into this area for a few months and it seems very nice. I was just hoping to get some opinions on the area and if you would consider it a good place to live.

Nice area, only major drawbacks is air travel. Very, very small airport, limited flights and the flights they do have are expensive.

I have never lived there but visited several times recently. It seems like a very nice place...great downtown, lots of outdoor activities, appears to have a diverse, well-educated population...that’s all I’ve got.
Good luck.

True but with a 2 ish hour drive and you can be at ATL or CLT and fly direct to virtually anywhere.

For a fairly small city you could do a lot worse.

-Access to mountains and lakes is very close
-economy seems to be going strong there, especially in the auto biz
-very nice little downtown
-big cities are a reasonable drive as are great long weekend spots like Asheville and Charleston
-can easily hit Clemson or S. Carolina for a college football fix

It has become a pretty nice place. My mothers side of the family is from there and I have spent plenty of time there. The city has been booming and improving over past 10-20 years and has a lot to offer as a medium size city. Plenty of good nightlife and entertainment options in town, lots of recreational options nearby. Summer does get Hot but not as bad as La., winter can get chilly with a few decent snows each year but nothing crazy. Asheville and Blue Ridge just around the corner one way and Charleston or Myrtle Beach the other. If you get outside of town the hillbillies and rednecks can be pretty hardcore. All my uncles used to make their living running moonshine back in the 50's and 60's and these days my cousins are...lets just say they are avid horticulturists

Downtown is really nice... Has been growing for years.. Charleston/ lowcountry is the only area nicer in SC in my opinion..Not far from Atl,Cha,Ash.the coast..a lot of beautiful areas nearby also..Lake Keowee,Table rock,Ceasars head,. Hwy 11 all the way to Georgia is a wonderful drive..

I have a couple of friends who live there. They love it. I’ve enjoyed visiting there and the downtown area is awesome! Very easy drive to most SEC venues to catch the Tigers (Columbia, Athens, Knoxville, Nashville, Lexington, Auburn. ) Also great for weekend trips to Charleston or Asheville.

Greenville's a great town - very family friendly. There's pretty much something for everyone - commerce, sports, nice downtown, concerts, plays, good restaurants.

The wife and I are seriously considering moving down there when she retires in a few years.
