Paying 3% raises on top of all the other bullshite is gutting small businesses, guy.

That’s part of business…guy. Stop taking huge year end bonuses and pay your employees correctly

Who decides what "correctly" is? The burger flippers who want $15 an hour?

Your lifestyle isn't your job's responsibility.

Recruitment allocation is higher than retention. I got fortunate off of someone else's misfortune this past year. I had to do his job and my own for 2 months and was able to parlay that into a 12% raise. I think the younger people are right in leaving a place every 3-5 years for more pay or upward mobility.

It's going to be interesting to see how companies, businesses, contractors, etc. continue to turn a profit when larger portions of their potential customers get laid off in favor of automation, AI or indentured foreign labor or their salaries are slowly eaten away by inflation.

Seems like a long descent towards ruin.

Yeah, eff that. Wife got a 15% raise in July and another 5% on top of that in December. And her December bonus was the second biggest one she's gotten there in 12 years. That's closer to being appreciated.

A 3% raise in this economy and inflation is essentially telling your employees that they are worth less this year than last year.

I guess she at least didn't get laid off like a few others at her place did. So, we've got that going for us.

So why are you complaining?

Professionals with valuable experience are jumping ship left and right. Too many opportunities out there and the good ones are paying for quality.

Correctly is if you think they are good employees like the OP said his wife’s boss mentioned then pay them accordingly to keep them

Better than the 0% raise that my company gives. Downside of living on commission with a small base salary

Not really

They give raises
Then they pay more for materials
Then pay more for marketing
Then pay more for transport
etc etc etc

Are there companies who increase their margins with price hikes? Absolutely. Is that true of most small to smaller mid-sized companies? Absolutely not

What is accordingly? Maybe they are. Maybe they think she's worth a 3% raise

If you are out earning your spending, 3% can be ok.

At least she didn't have to go to work yesterday due to the weather, right?

Then they markup their prices to match the previous margins? Are you retarded?

The only way you’ll get a raise that matches the inflation spike is to change jobs.

High probability she’s working at a place where new hires come in significantly higher than her.

Yup. So she leaves and ends up making more at new place.

Old place has to spend tiem and money training her replacement... who they will also have hired at market rates which are higher.

So if they mark up to get back to previous margins, where does the magical extra money to give bigger raises come from?

Methinks the retarded mirror is double sided
