I've only ever passed through by train before and I'm not familiar with the city. Any suggestions on what to check out? I arrive around 11AM so it's nice timing for the layover.

Nothing to contribute other than I am jealous of your layover. Germany is beautiful and a well planned layover is a good way to get a taste of a city.

You at the airport or the hauptbahnhof?
eta-if it's the hauptbahnhof you're right across the street from the red light.

there was some good info in a thread a few months ago about this, try to dig it up, I am usually in Mainz when I go to Frankfurt, but at the very least, you will have no trouble finding good food and beer. good luck

I topped it off with an overnight in Brussels on the company.

And yeah, yeah. I'm looking for non hookers and only mild debauchery info.

Should be performing in a bukake while you wait.

International airport.

I have an old acquaintance who lived there many years. He's no longer there but I reached out and hoping to hear back.

Thought I would que up the OT world travelers also.

Its really hard to do anything with 9 hours, other than a meal.

You figure its at least an hour to deplane and get through immigration (probably closer to 90 minutes to 2 hours), and you probably need to be at the airport 90 mins before your flight.

Throw in 30 minutes (very optimistic) to get into the city and out, and you are looking at 4-5 hours in the city. And that is if everything goes right.

I haven't tried it in Frankfurt, but I tried it in amsterdamn and Rome and felt crazy rushed the whole time. And well frankfurt is an industrial city, it doesn't have a ton of sights.

I had a 6 hr layover in frankfurt last fall. I just found a bench, laid down and took a nap.

eta: Food in frankfurt airport is pretty good, at least for a german city.

when you re-enter the airport, there's a great deli, I think it's one level lower than street level, with excellent food, I always get something for the flight, I guarantee it will be better than anything on the plane

Totally going off topic here, but this is why we should legalize prostitution. So let's say it is legal and you are depressed. Your doctor can prescribe sex since we all know it works and is much better than anti depressants. At that point, you could write off hookers as a medical expense.

This time of night I'd go to Sachsenhausen.

I'm lazy and the airline clubs in Frankfurt are self serve booze and decent food, so I'd probably hang out and get shitfaced.

I had a 9 hour layout in Frankfurt last year. Here is what I did.

1. Went to luftansa arrivals lounge and showered (was in b class),
2. left my carryon bags in a baggage holding place (it was near the same area as the arrival lounge, you handed them your bags, paid a small fee upon picking up baggage),
3. took a train to franfurt haupwatze (sp?) station which takes you to center of town. Smack dab in the center. Be sure to take the correct line which goes all the way to that station.
4. Walked around town and explored.
5. Had a beer and some grub in the town square (you'll know it when you see it).
6. Catch train back to airport with plenty of time for lufstansa lounge beers/drinks.

ETA, I really enjoyed my experience.

Thanks. This is the info I was searching for. I don't have any checked baggage to deal with so I'll take this advice.
