PICAYUNE -- Two Picayune residents face 249 violations in what officials are calling the worst animal-abuse case in the town's history.

Lynne Hackney, 57, and Miles Allen, 56, were arrested on charges of 249 city and county violations for their part in a case that found more than 70 Australian cattle dogs living in awful conditions.

All the dogs were rescued and taken to the Picayune SPCA under a 14-day temporary ownership before they begin to look to the community to offer permanent homes.

I know there are a few Australian Cattle Dog owners on the OT, and they may want to know if they had any contact with this breeder, or they may want to help out.

I remember coming across this breeder when I was looking to get my heeler a few years ago and they looked legitimate based upon their website. I'm glad I ended up getting my cattle dog from somewhere else.

I would say at least 50% of breeders are usually awful people that only see dollars and DGAF about the animals.

Those owners need to spend a couple weeks in those pens....Same conditions, and I mean the exact same. Put them in one pen and shove some food and water in twice a day. Let them piss and crap on each other.

That is crazy. Makes me sick. I feel bad when I go a day without playing with my pup.

Wait until he's gone. Not a nice feeling.
