That's the proper distance to tase someone. Anything closer and a taser is ineffective in stopping someone.

For what it's worth, I enjoyed the vid. My brother is a cop, and had to do that. Said it was rather unpleasant.

Effective tasting distance for complete stimulus overload/paralysis is 20 feet. Much past that, you can miss. Much closer and the probes will all hit too close together. And that may hurt, it won't cause short term paralysis because the distribution will be too concentrated. The paralysis is the total point for using a taser.

Got a cousin that's a cop. Went through the academy and all that shite. He said the taser wasn't nearly as bad as the mace/pepper spray.
He said as he took a shower later that night traces of it still remained in his hair and ran into his eyes, causing him to freak the hell out and nearly break his neck falling out.
