are there any safe ones?

Not if you have neglecting parents, otherwise, just about every modern lawnmower is safe enough to prevent this from happening.

Keep your kids from playing around them when being operated, it's that easy.

I really feel for the girl. Not only is she in immense physical pain, she will have do deal with a prosthetic for the rest of her life. I would be devastated if this was my daughter.

So they ran over her with a lawnmower? How the hell do you not see her?!?

I was 4 years old and had the lawnmower run over my foot. My dad was driving the mower at the time. I went running from the front yard through the gate and he never saw me. Still have my foot, it s just a little messed up. Can still bring him to tears when we joke about it.

Has to be one of the scariest feelings for him. Would be for me.

Father sounds trashy. Trashy people are known to make idiotic decisions. Like the decision that you don't need to make sure your kids are safely away from a running lawnmower.

When I was a kid I was swinging on a rope in the backyard while my mom was push mowing. My foot hit the flywheel throwing it underneath the mower. I never felt a thing and kept swinging. My brother grabbed me a took me to a wall to look at it. I was wearing red winners choice shoes so it looked normal until he took the shoe off. It looked like scrambled eggs with ketchup. This was probably about 35 years ago and the scar is still sensitive. I remember eating so much ice cream while in the hospital.

When I was a kid, my best friend lost two fingers in a lawnmower accident. His right ring finger and pinky. Still not exactly sure how it happened, but he’s lucky it wasn’t a lot worse.

Meh, it was a teachable moment.

Fast forward a year or two and the family is stringing popcorn for Christmas (yes, we were white trash) one night and we ran out of something. So, my same brother decided to run to the neighbor's house to borrow whatever it was. He was bare footed and kicked a terra cotta pot in the dark while running. The entire top layer of skin from his toes almost all the way to his ankle was flapped over like he was scalped.

Good times.

My grandfather lost his two middle fingers to the knuckles while working on a dragline. When we would act up he would pinch us with the two nubs and it hurt like a bitch.
