About 41 bodies were counted at the wreck site by a local reporter. It is unclear how many of the victims were on the plane and how many were on the ground. Juba's Radio Miraya says the plane was heading to Paloch in Upper Nile State and crashed just 800m (half a mile) from the runway. Presidential spokesman Ateny Wek Ateny told Reuters news agency that there were at least two survivors, a crew member and a child.

Prayers to their families.
That's a crappy thing to read first thing in the morning.

Older plane that went out of production in the 70s. A turbo-prop plane similar to the C-130 though not quite as big or advanced. Horrible anytime people die in a plane crash. I just always hope they passed out first.

Note to self: don't fly in Russia

Things like this happen when you cut corners. Russia is trying to be a world player on a shoestring, and it's not going to work out well for them.

Doubtful that Russia even still owns this plane. Pretty sure most were sold off, and all replacement parts are either used, or refurbished units. Still sucks no matter how you look at it.
