The number of cases has begun to increase exponentially in FLA with fears blood transfer could begin to occur when Mosquitos transfer the blood of infected persons. This brings the number of cases in the U.S. approaching the thousands. The question is what is the tipping point where the virus spreads simply by mosquito in the US

Serious question - I understand it could transfer from one person to another this way, but does this introduce it into the mosquito family tree too?

Just returned from Quintana Roo, Mexico, so I stayed outside last night so the local mosquitos could savor my Zika infected blood and share it with my neighbors who complain that I never bring them anything back from my travels.

Well it appears that all Zika cases in the US are travel related so it appears that the virus has not spread to the mosquitos here. "Exponentially" appears to be hyperbole.

In addition, Aedes aegypt, the primary carrier has a more limited range than the Aedes albopictus, which is less likely to be a carrier. The short life span of Aedes aegypt (2 weeks), the limited number of cases, and the fact that they are all travel related are factors to act as barriers to reaching that tipping point. So hopefully these factors continue to work in that favor.
