I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado, 5.3L. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) looks like it went out. Anyone have an opinion on re-manufactured versus a new PCM?

Care to offer the cost differential between the new vs the reman? I'm thinking the new one can't be very expensive.

If it's less than a factor of 100%, I'd definitively go new.

Remaned (ex. Oreilly's) range from $190ish - $350ish. The new could range from $200 - $800. I'm honestly not sure which exact PCM I would need...aka not sure if I need the $190/$350 remanned or the $200/$800 new. I'm sure it depends on vin, systems, etc...

We're not talking a ton of money here. I'm more curious as to issues with a remanned (if any), if buying remaned vs buying new was just a price difference, etc...

Looks like, based on a previous post, there are issues with the remaned so going new just guarantees a better quality and/or at least a warranty.
