149K - has all service records. All work done at Volvo dealer.

Timing belt changed at 101K.

Clear title and CAR FAX reports 1 owner, no accidents.

He only wants $3,990 for it as he just bought a new Mercedes.

I don't know anything about VOLVO's - was going to get this as a first car for my youngest son.

Any help/opinion etc is appreciated - even from the O-T

They can be a little pricey to work on but the little dude will be safe. It's like driving a tank.

avoid the european cars that old, they're good cars, but they're complicated machines and cost more to work on.

Yeah, I've been reading this morning on some auto forums. Many people are saying exactly this...

Think I'll look for a Camry or Accord...

In the $4000-$5000 range you could probably find a decent high mileage Camry or Accord with some life left.

ETA: you just said the same thing

I have a couple garages and my head mechanic told me that he believes european cars are unnecessarily tough to work on bc the unions in europe demand more jobs for their people so they are just complicated for no reason at all. They're great cars without a doubt but out of warranty and 12 years old I just wouldn't want one when labor costs at most shops are up near $90/hour these days for an independent shop and significantly more for a dealer.

Any Volvo or BMW over 100k in miles is going to be in the repair shop 3-4 times a year. And most repairs are over a $1,000.00 easily.

Don't buy that car. I'm speaking from experience.

Nice car. If you have the budget for maintenance then go for it.

But do you know anything about working on modern cars in general, especially a modern turbo? I speak from experience on owning a high mileage Volvo. Stay away unless you don't value your Saturdays and wallet.

Yeah, definitely took all of you guys advice and steered away.

Found 08 Camry XLE for $5,500 with 100K that's been care for. Low maintenance costs etc. can live with this one.
