Quentin Tellis did it. They've tried him twice, both mistrials.

Damn, was there just not enough evidence to convict?

I didn’t really keep up with either trial, but the 1st responders were convinced she said “Erick” or “Derick.” “Quentin” not sounding like either of those may have been enough to hang the juries without overwhelming forensic evidence connecting him.

But like I said, I didn’t keep up with either trial, so the mistrials may have been procedural rather than hung juries—I’m not sure. Probably be easy enough to research, but I kinda want to save a little suspense for the show.

I think that Ellis dude killed an Asian student or professor at ULM in Monroe right after Jessica, maybe even the next night. Pretty sure that case is a slam dunk, so worst case he spends the rest of his life in Angola. But I know if I were Jessica’s dad—and the state of Mississippi—I’d want that conviction as well. But I’m not sure if they’d think a 3rd trial was financially prudent, especially considering he should be looking at a life sentence—or even the death penalty—in Louisiana.

I just watched a video with the family of Tellis after the 2nd mistrial verdict and they were straight up saying Eric did it and how they wanted justice for Jessica.

Doesn't mean Tellis didn't do it, but I did find it interesting they were saying that. Could just be their bias in not wanting to believe their family member did it. IDK.

Either way, he's a horrible person who robbed and violently murdered another young woman. I believe he actually admitted to robbing her. He apparently has a history of robbery.

See, that’s one of the things I’ve forgotten—was there an “Eric” in her life? And why were the 1st responders so convinced she was telling them who did it rather than calling out for a friend?

Well, yeah. I’m sure they’ve convinced themselves he didn’t do it. It’s such a heinous crime—to rape a girl and then set her on fire to kill her—that it’s probably impossible to let your mind go to thinking your son or nephew was capable of it.

No doubt, he’s a huge piece of fricking shite. His family may have convinced themselves that he didn’t kill Jessica—and hell, maybe he didn’t—but I don’t think they need to be setting a place for him at any future Thanksgiving dinners.
