I'm getting an early jump on either the Louisiana in BR or rock and roll in New Orleans January next year. Right now I'm following intermediate program on the nike run app and when I'm done with that I'm going to try the program above it. So I should be well trained to run a marathon by then. I've enjoyed the intermediate program thus far and have seen some nice gains in endurance/speed already. It's the first program I've ever used but I would recommend it. Especially for the novice like myself.

You can email customer service and ask them to add or correct a run. I did this one time because I ran on a treadmill but did not have my phone on me

That's a very early start. I haven't looked into that program but I'm sure it will give you a solid base to get ready. Depending on your goals for the run, you may want to look into pfitz 18/55 plan. It's a 18 week program that peaks at 55 miles one week. You'll need a solid base before starting the program, which it seems like you are working on. Good luck with training.

Wow I would love to knock out 100 miles in a month. Last year I started from scratch and probably went to fast and knees started bothering me. Anyone have a plan to go from nothing (not necessarily couch fatass) to being able to knock out 100 in a month?

Thanks, I'll look into the program. You got it though, training very early so I make damn sure I have a strong foundation by the time the marathon rolls around. As far as goals I'll evaluate what I think I can do by the time September/October get here.

2 miles twice a day is easy,
I was doing 6 miles a day trying to catch Forks and at one point 10 miles (2 runs of 5 miles)

If you're training for a marathon that's in January right now, I fully expect you to complete it and do quite well. Some people sign up and wait until a month before to try and pack in as much training as possible (or give up) and end up walking a large portion of it. "Running" a half marathon in 4 hours... Uhhh...

Hopefully we can all keep each you motivated!

I hope so man. I fell prey to what you were saying about packing a ton of running in right before a race. A half marathon, a few short runs before, and one wrecked body later. I told myself if I ever run a marathon I have to take the training seriously. Good luck in the half.

The idea of putting in a ton of miles the month before a marathon is a terrible idea. I have less than 3 weeks before Boston and my longest run left is 16. The taper is in full swing.

Thanks 480. you should join in. Gotta start somewhere.

Anyone make another thread of April or what? I just accepted the challenge but didn't see the thread.
