He has really played well in Miami. Is it safe to say he was underutilized here in New Orleans? Payton gets a lot of credit for his offensive genius as he deserves but looking at Reggie's production in MIA you start to wonder what he could have done with more touches in our offense. Just something to think about guys. I'll duck for cover now.

He got plenty of touches in New Orleans. How many more should he have gotten?

My theory is that he was too fast for his own good. With years his speed decreased and he hits the hole slower which means longer time for the line to block.

For some the grass really is greener on the other side.

I really don't know why he flourished there and not here. What was it 08 where Deuce was out for pretty much the whole year and we tried to make Reggie do everything? He really couldn't do that.

Sometimes, players get better at different points in their careers.

And it's not the other team's fault.

Reggie played in 15 games last season for Miami. He had roughly 250 carries & receptions.

There was a year or 2 here in NO that Reggie went over that in 10-12 games.

Whatever the issue was "underutilization" was not it.

I've researched this from every angle. I'm pretty sure it comes down to the helmets. A dolphin is slick, elusive, and streamlines north and south, whereas the Fleur de Lis is frayed, forked and susceptible to friction causing a reduction in speed and unwarranted lateral movements.

he was not under-utilized here.. this is what happens when you go from a 'role' player to a 'feature' player

Miami's OL is much better at run blocking than ours is and has been.

Well they used a 1st overall on Jake Long and then picked a Center with the highest pick ever used on a center.

For years they were trying to install a ground and pound game, while the rest of the NFL switched to a qb driven league.

So it gets them a oline that even Reggie Bush can run behind but it leaves them with Brian Hartline as their #1 WR.

I think is due to the fact that Reggie was the hottest thing out of college since Ricky Williams probably, and that made guys inspired to play him. Now hes on a shite squad and people are underestimating him.

Running backs will never be "stars" in NOLA. The offense doesn't allow for it, even if you weren't 1 of 20 backs playing in the game. Kind of like receivers not getting HUGE yardage totals in places like New York (Jets). They run the ball, it's their offense.

He wasn't used like he is in Miami. He is a true RB down there. He gets 20-25 carries a game. In NO he would get a few gimmick touches and fancy plays but could never get a consistent flow because he kept coming out the game.

And injuries.

He was injured a lot in New Orleans. And it wasn't like he didn't produce here but he was hurt a lot. Here's some stats I dug up on reggie:

2006= 1,305 receiving/rushing yards---16 games
2007= 998 receiv/rush yards---12 games
2008= 844 receiv/rush yards---10 games
2009= 725 receiv/rush yards---14 games
2010= 358 receiv/rush yards---8 games

Dolphins
2011= 1,382 receiv/rush yards---15 games
