I like what I see out of Scooby Wright LB for Arizona. Looks good on defensive I think he would be a great pick for us in 2nd or 3rd round.

Rookie Contracts last 4 years
QB Drew Brees has 3 years remaining on his contract
Drew Brees is still a Top 5 QB

Drew Brees needs a new C, with possibly some new Guards to continue playing at a high level...

We have only 1 CB, Old, average at best LB Corps, and our defense as a whole has regressed drastically and rapidly from a season ago

so Yes! let's upgrade the Clipboard guy with a first or second day pick.

You act like we wouldn't address those needs with other picks and or FA. I'd rather have said clipboard guy learn then be shite out of luck when Drew does hang it up.

You would rather invest what would most likely be a 1st round pick in a backup QB just so we have a chance at not being completely awful for 1 season(Drew will not hang them...Drew has never left money on the table ever. FACT!)

This FO probably just bombed an entire draft outside of 1 pick and you would rather sacrifice that one pick for a player of little immediate use.

Meanwhile in 20 something other draft rooms you have GMs stacking the deck for this upcoming season drafting players that could be Patrick Willis caliber, Luke Kuechly's, JJ Watts' etc...but we have a backup(that could be Tannehill could be Kapernick...who knows)and some more project players that one day might make an impact. That is a great draft strategy.

Edit: How many LB's has Sean Payton drafted? How many are still on the team? You can apply the same question to CB's as well after this season ends. Food for thought.

How did not having a backup QB work out for INDY when Peyton Manning was done for the year?

before bashing me...realize this happened only 2 years ago...the Rodgers/Favre draft for the future reference happened in 2005...I am sure no else attempted this since them as well...considering 20+ GM's and Scout teams passed on him.

First round, probably not. 2nd or 3rd, I'd consider it. Fact of the matter is we wont be seeing the next guy as an undrafted or low round pick. The numbers just don't support it. The Brady's of the world are the exception to the rule.

This was a horrible draft, wont argue. But as a rule of thumb, they've done alright. Last year was an anomaly.

What does other peoples draft strategy do with us? I don't care what they do. Yes we have needs which we will also address.

a CB or LB can bust just as easily in the 1st round as it can in the later rounds. They are def a position of need which I'd lean toward in the first but its not a lock to work out either.

Absolutely horrible. Its what I hope to avoid. Why not go the Green Bay route and have a guy sit for a while then be ready and not shell shocked when its time for him to go?

No one is bashing anyone. I never called you anything and thought we are just discussing. I got no problem here.

Taking a QB early does not mean we cant fix our other needs as well though. I'm not advocating Mariota or anything just a QB in the first 3 rounds.

Ideally, we would of taken 1 last year when it was QB Deep. We addressed a need in the 2nd round last year with SJB. Why not groom a QB instead of a very raw CB that cant make in on the field when we are weak at that position?
