I understand this is just a hypothetical but a 7-9 Saints team is not winning the super bowl. With 4 games left against 4 of the worst teams in the NFL not named Raiders or Jaguars and we'd have to lose 2??
But to play along, they shouldn't, and i believe they wouldn't, change anything. I mean that's the benefit of winning your division. Just like MLB, doesn't matter what your record is, if you don't win your division you have they tougher road to the promise land.

The Saints have been on the opposite end of this situation many times in the past so no one would have the right to complain. In the old NFC West division Jim Mora's Saints would finish with the second best regular season record in the NFL and still have to play in the WILDCARD game because they were in the same division with Joe Montana's and Jerry Rice's 49'er teams.
