If we are missing Fairley, Unger, and Armstead Week 1, I say no.

I know Unger is supposed to be back, but I am now trained to only expect the worst.

Now, if Fairley is back and healthy and Unger is in the lineup week 1, I think this team could be special. I was actually a little concerned with the Lattimore pick, but hearing that he's been looking freakish in the Louisiana humidity has significantly dampened those fears

Offense needs to balance out like we did in 2009. With Ingram and AD behind our newly improved OL, keep our defense off the field. When they do come on, just preach turnovers and getting the ball back to Brees and we can hang with anyone.

I was actually thinking losing Armstead might actually force them to finally commit to the run again like they did in 09. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise

I sure hope I am wrong, but if they are better then 9-7 again, then it will shock the hell out of me.

so other then that, I expect to see the same ole same ole "we were that close" "if we only had one call go our way" "we were one play away" excuses for another season full of disappointments

I would say yes barring anymore major injuries. Losing Fairley hurt but if the rest of the defense steps up we will be ok. I dont see him coming back.

Losing Armstead is par for the course. That guy cant stay on the field so pretend he isnt even there. It wasnt even really a loss. What will hurt the offense is if Unger isnt able to go week 1. That means we have a new offensive line that will take some time to get used to. The defense better be up to snuff week 1 because with a new offensive line we see some growing pains until they gel barring anymore injuries.

Considering we have Fairley, Unger, and Armstead unhealthy. Sorry guys but I'm not optimistic about this team at all. If healthy, I can see them making some good noise, but not anymore. We won't be able to block our RBs or Brees at all without Armstead or Unger, and we almost won't likely have as good a pass rush without Fairley. I'm pretty damn concerned.

No we won't be a surprise team bc it wouldn't be a surprise. These team has a lot of talent if it can stay relatively healthy. Not off to a good start though

I was in the 8-8 camp well before the season started last year due to no real improvements in personnel. However this year because of what I see as some really good draft selections and free agency moves , we don't need anymore injuries to major contributors and the current injured back within their expected return dates and our chances are still really good. We are certainly due some good news injury wise. We have been snake bit too often.

Any team with a top 5 QB shouldn't be considered a surprise.

If Brees stays healthy all season, they'll be in the 6-10 to 8-8 range.

If there is a bright side to this if we are lucky we should have most back early enough to make a difference. I still consider this a building year with still a real shot at some playoff spot. We just need to get most of or guys back as early as possible. Everyone is going to have some injuries going in.

We have to stay healthy and so far we haven't done that with Fairley, Unger and Armstead all going down.

If Fairley and Unger can play that helps a lot but it's things like this that prevent good teams from making the playoffs

I'm hopeful but we have been hit hard with the injury bug to key players to start. Which really sucks because you can see this team change it's philosophy in acquiring free agents and drafting in the last three years in the right direction.
