Why the hell would they cut him without him seeing the field. He's a physical corner and good tackler and has the size to be a solid player

They could stash him on IR if still hurt but my guess is he makes it through to practice squad.

He won't make it to the practice squad. Someone will claim a 3rd round cornerback with 1st round talent that hasn't even stepped foot on the field yet. The Bengals claimed Fortt(4th rounder, I think?) last year after we cut him. The Rams claimed Antonio Pittman(3rd rounder) after we cut him in favor of Pierre Thomas. He either makes the team or goes on IR.
