Little worried he failed on his first truly pressure kick. Hopefully he got it out of his system.
Terrible play before the FG coming out of a timeout to take that loss. If Philly wins 21-20, the focus today would have been pointed that way.

Wasn't exactly a gimme field goal, but yes, still has to hit that one.

He made a big kick against the Vikings in playoffs last year that should have been game winner. He missed a 52 yarder yesterday, no gimme

It was the right call with the run / FG, just the execution was terrible.

I would blame the play calling far more
Lutz has arguably been the best kicker in the league and will be for a long time

I blame the play calling. Took a 47 yard FG and turned it into a 52. Still his job to make it, but why make it harder on your players with a terrible play call?

What the crap was that call?

Couldn't exactly tell from my seats, but he seemed to have missed it pretty badly to the right. Anyone have a replay? I'm having a hard time finding one.

In Nola.com they stated he kicked the ground before the ball

It was maybe a yard or two outside the goal post.

shite happens... He's going to miss a kick from time to time. Not really a big deal. More pissed about the play call that set it up.

Didn't Brees check out of the original playcall at the line?

Yeah, I though I read Payton was upset at Brees for changing the play. Can't remember where I saw that.

It was the only kick he truly missed over 50 yards this year (he had one blocked over 50 against the Steelers), and only his 2nd non-blocked miss of the year. He will be fine.

One of the NOLA websites said Lutz might have hit the ground before the ball, which makes sense because you have to hit it really low and with a ton of power to drive it 52 yards. Would explain why it sailed so far

Makes sense, I was at the game thinking he had to have miss hit it. It barely reached the goal posts. He's hit 50+ yarders that would've been good from 60+

Thank God that wasn't the case but thats exactly what I thought the final score was going to be after that missed kick! He's been so automatic that I think it's good in hindsight he missed that one to get it out of his system. We may need a Hartley-esque performance out of him in one of the next 2 games

I thought they were going to score with around 50 seconds left and we hit a big Thomas play and then a sneaky good Kamara dump off to get Lutz in range for the final FG.
We still had a time out too
