Why was Payton's gameplan with McCown so much better than with Brees?

I don't think anyone on this board would advise deep drops for big plays downfield behind this oline

Good question. Brees would thrive with that game plan and playcalling. Instead we get this shite

Because without Brees, Payton has to do his job.

This is actually a good point. Payton was forced to call the game less aggressive and more thoughtful.

Payton needs to give-up play-calling if the Saints are going to ever turn this around.

McCown is way better than Brees. Should cut Brees and save the money.

At least that's what some posters around here are going to say.

Considering what you're paying the both of them, McCown is probably more cost efficient. Is a hurt Brees really leaps and bounds better than a fully healthy and hungry McCown?
