1) New blocking scheme by new OL coach.
2) Too much predictability due to personnel groups when runs are coming
3) Evans was hurt early and caused lack of faith in run game
4) No elite traditional backs to feed the rock and make huge plays.

Now, I think Evans is healthy and the line is starting to improve. I believe Payton learned from the Pats game how not running the ball against a weak dline until the second half was dumb, and the Saints do need a running game to be a complete team.

Also, the bye week will help with coaching adjustments (self-scouting) to eliminate predictability and find what works best to get the run game going.

Finally, if Robinson proves he can protect the ball, he can have a Chris Ivory-like affect. He is actually a much more complete back than Ivory, so he could really earn a lot of playing time (if Payton goes back to Ingram, all bets are off).

In fact the only season that our running percentage approached our passing percentage is the season that we won the Super Bowl.

we were 4th in ypc in 2011 and 6th in yards. We were the best offense ever in 2011

Saying he has no discipline is a figure of speech.. Like saying zach Randolph has no hops.

Of course Z-Bo can jump 6 inches or so and of course Sean Payton is capable of some discipline, but I suppose if you want to take it literally and look like an a-hole that's your prerogative.

Great. That's not what I was talking about. I was talking bout run/pass ratio.

who cares? Best offense in NFL history and ran the ball enough to be in the top 10

2011 playoffs as well

we ran 36x for 167 yards against Detroit in the 2011 playoffs...

Fell behind early against SF and they were the best at stopping the run

We fell behind early and played from behind.

If we run the ball in Chicago in NFC championship game we win even though we fall behind early. ditto for last week in New England.

Two of Peyton's worst games as play caller.

Now you're just making excuses for coaches without discipline.

The title of this thread itself is hyperbolic and yet you're calling me out being hyperbolic on a throwaway statement?

Obviously any sane person knows that Sean Payton is one of the top three coaches in all of football today. I'm just frustrated he was so horrible last week.

we had the lead against the Patriots and couldn't get a 1st down with 5 of the last 6 offensive plays being runs. I agree we should have ran the ball more, but we still had the lead at the end and couldn't get a first down

agreed, but you would think with

Grubbs
DLP
Evans

we would be more successful.

One major thing. Kromer. He is one the best O line coaches in the NFL and runs a different blocking scheme. New coach, new scheme they spent time learning.

New Oline coach is the root of the problem.
