Hope you mean Shawn Knight and not Sammy Knight.

Some other names: Olin Kreutz, John Mecum, Steve Spagnuolo, Mike Ditka, Albert Connell and Bill Kuharich.

I personally hated Kerry Collins. After years of suffering with Wade Wilson, Steve Walsh, Jim Everett, Heath Shuler and Doug Nussmeier, we made a trade for Collins. Collins was super talented and was the best QB we had seen in years. He also hated New Orleans, was a drunk and didn’t even try. It was like he was trying to throw interceptions so he could go back to the bench. He then goes to the Giants, gives a shite, comes in 2nd in comeback player of the year and takes the Giants to the Super Bowl. Screw that a-hole!

What's with the pearl clutchers? JW said he wanted a chance to start and we are not paying 9 mil for a backup! This was not a surprise.
Sorry wrong thread :(

Toss up between Bum Phillips for trading Archie, and going with Kenny "Wooden Knees" Stabler. Also Bill Kuharich naming Ditka as HC then pissing away the draft for Ricky Williams. Those that are young enough to remember, the 1983 Saints were a qb away from being a pretty good team, but turned the ball over too much. No way they miss the playoffs with Manning. The defense was really good.

We don’t even say his name anymore.

I’d put Michael Thomas next.

The Ditka hire always made me scratch my head. He was out of football and doing TV. A guy I knew with the TP said it was because Benson listened too much to WWL and Buddy D who was a Ditka fanboy who would say that Ditka got the most out of his players than anyone else and that he was far and away the BEST coach out there. So he hires Ditka and after about a year realizes he makes a colossal mistake but has him tied up with a ridiculous contract.

Had to bring in Arnie Felkow ultimately to find a way out of it. It was a shitshow with Danny Abramowicz at OC and Zavan Yaralian at DC . Abramowicz could not scheme to save his life....he had been coaching at Jesuit just a little while before. Yaralian was not half bad for the first 2 years but ultimately got shown up. After the third year, Benson realizes he's on the verge of losing money if he keeps Ditka one second longer and realizes that Kuharich and Jim Miller don't know shite about the new landscape of pro football. So aside from Fielkow he also brings in Randy Mueller and they essentially begin to cut the whole team and hires Jim Haslett who objectively was not a bad coach....not great but pretty good. What they did to rebuild that team overnight was pretty remarkable.

Arnie Fielkow essentially saved the Saints and Tom Benson
