What team? And how long after did it take for that team to achieve the success they once had with the coach they let go?

Its a huge mistake to let him go. Its easy to fire anybody, The real feat is to get them to perform.

Payton should be made to help fix the issues instead of cutting bait. If he is made to finish out his contract and he doesn't improve the team his overall value in the league will be greatly diminished. Also the Saints need a full time GM.

It took Baltimore a little while to get back to the big game.
Tampa hasn't been back since their win.
Pittsburgh and Indy made it back after their coaches retired.

He's the one trying to get out.

Arizona Whisenhunt to Arians
Seattle Holmgren to Carroll
GB Holmgren to Sherman to McCarthy
Indy Dungy to Caldwell to Pagano
Pitt Cower to Tomlin
Baltimore Billick to Harbaugh
Carolina Fox to Rivera

All modern HC changes from winning tenures and found success not too long after making the switch.

Well

Don't let him out. Its a win win. He stays 2 years and fixes this and his star will be bright. He could write his own amount on the check. But if he can't fix the mess he help create, his star will be dim.

Taking draft picks for him is not the answer.

WTF

Arizona won when. What championship coach was replaced?
Holmgren did nothing at Seattle

Greenbay and Indy? Really??

Cowher retired and left the Cupboard full

Carolina, Fox was not a championship coach

Baltimore may be the only team that fits the question and is clearly the outlier.

Pretty much proves my point

This team is going into the dark ages again for a little while. Just buckle up and ride it out.

The only one of those that proves your point is Baltimore. Cowher wasn't let go, that's a little different.

"Championship Coach"

So winning division titles, conference titles, or making the SB is a meaningless accomplishment in your eyes.

If winning it all is the only acceptable barometer of success you will acknowledge. Spoiler alert! Your probably going to hate our next coach no matter when he is hired.

My point was HC changes from a successful predecessor doesn't always result in becoming Cleveland or some bottom dweller franchise. It was someone elses point about being let go.

The point is

This is the Saints

We were in the doldrums of the NFL for decades. With the current situation in ownership Payton is still by far our best option.

Dallas?

Perhaps Jimmy Johnson after Landry but no way your counting Barry Switzer. LOL

Either way an outlier.

are you retarded? 3 out of 4 winning season. 3 division championships. Superbowl victory. Are you saying you wouldnt take that from the next coach after payton?

No but you seem quite retarded.

Switzer was the product of what Jimmy Johnson built. Jimmy Johnson left the cupboard full.

You want to say Johnson replaced Landry fine but Switzer following Johnson was clearly a diffrent scenario than what the Saints will be facing if they run Payton off or let him leave.

Besides...The Saints Franchise is not the Cowboys franchise. History has not smiled kindly on the Saints. Combine that with the fact that most of the time Championship coaches have not been followed up with another championship coach, my point is proven.
