What is the season record for defensive penalties on a player?

You have to think Browner already owns this record, as anyone with that many penalties is usually riding the pine by now.

Browner had 15 all of last year. He currently has 15 after 9 games... He's on pace for 27 penalties. 27!! That's unheard of in the modern NFL.
Since 2009, the player with the highest penalties per year is as follows:
2009 - Flozell Adams (OT) w/ 13 penalties for 110 yards
2010 - Jared Veldheer (OT) w/ 15 penalties for 110 yards
2011 - Stanford Routt (CB) w/ 17 penalties for 167 yards (Browner next highest this year w/ 16 penalties for 150 yards)
2012 - Doug Free (OT) w/ 13 penalties for 90 yards
2013 - Vontaze Burfict (LB) w/ 12 penalties for 145 yards
2014 - Brandon Browner (CB) w/ 15 penalties for 128 yards (He only played 9 games in 2014 btw)
2015 - Brandon Browner (CB) w/ 15 penalties for 154 yards (again, 9 games here as well.)
I cannot find anything on a record for most penalties by a defensive player, but I can probably bet your arse that being on pace for 27 penalties after 16 games is going to be some sort of modern day NFL record. That's fricking pathetic.
Also worth noting: the other CB on this list, Stanford Routt, isn't even in the NFL anymore. You can probably guess why.

Hopefully maybe the pain will end with him again this year after 9 games!
