Sorry, but my lack of confidence in the pick is without merit.

So would feel this way if they drafted Jones? Are should they just draft offense?

But name the last 1st round pick in the Payton era that ended up being a good pick

Is there a Saints fan that doesn't know about our great drafting for the off. and somewhat crappy drafting on the def.side of the ball? Mr Jordan aside.

The 1st round pick was going to be hotly debated whomever it was. Besides the 3 OT's there was not a noticeable blue chipper in the rest of the whole round.

Well if we draft TM7, at least that will shut Fox up. Unless he took the ledge already. Then I say whatev's.

Vaccaro wasn't drafted to replace Harper.
This is what I'm hoping.

What did you see from Tez

I see speed and power.

The San Diego game and Carolina(away) games last season immediately come to mind.

-His sideline to sideline is ridiculous.

-He sheds blocks... almost never gets tangled up at the line.

I have ZERO confidence in Tez being anything less than a situational guy, at best.

I have ZERO problems with Tez being a situational pass rusher. If he was anything more he would of been drafted higher.

Victor Butler and Junior will handle the starting duties.

A lot of the local press were convinced this said a lot for Harper's future. One of them was Duncan, so I'll shut up.

this is much more likely to end up as a repeat of last year than our D ending up as a top 10 D

i don't think how many of y'all realize how shitty a 3-4 D is without an elite pass rusher

Junior Galette is a guy who can get 15 sacks in a 3-4 system. End of story.

If this is really the reason, this is even more ludicrous. Jenkins is the useless one. At least Harper is decent in run support and blitzing. So what, it's Vaccaro and Jenkins now? Yeah, that makes me feel much better

I'm actually liking the pick more and more. It's just I had my heart set on Jones or Star. And when we had a chance to get jones and passed on him, I was pissed. Vaccaro looks like a really good pick though

The San Diego game

I could have made that sack against Gathier. Hell, even Colinsworth called it. Dude couldn't move.

Carolina(away)

That was a good play. Those were too few and far in between to totally rely upon.

I hope I'm wrong. And, if someone asks, I will pump him all day. However, I lack the confidence.

And Jarvis Jones is an elite pass rusher in the NFL and would turn our D in to a top 10 D?

Yes, still. But, Jones was proven and fit a essential need in a new defense. Plus, he played that 3-4 D in college. Hell, the Saints interviewed his D coordinator for that same position.

How can you be so quick so dismiss Jones when the only LB on our current roster who has ever even played in a 34 is Butler? Wilson played it in college but he was an ILB. Jones was the two time leading sacked in the SEC dude. I'm not saying that automatically makes him an NFL star but you can't sit here and dismiss that on one hand and try to tell me Wilson, Galette, and Butler are all of a sudden going to become sack machines.

Sure for certain players. I don't think Jones was worth that gamble. You don't just draft the position because it's a better gamble, especially in a draft like this that is weak at the top.

If a guy like Mingo or Jordan was around then it's worth the gamble.

Everyone knows in any scheme in the NFL you need a pass rush or your doomed to fail.

And we all have been begging for the Saints to improve in this area.

The Saints didn't think JJ was the answer. I wanted him but I don't have the informed info they do to give a good counter argument.

I wanted him too but Jones is a big medical risk, USC didnt want the guy to ever play again because of his neck. Bottom line is Vaccoro was the safer pick.
