to be fair, this team is also a hair away from being 4-1

1-3, at home, desperate - any above average team would've smoked tampa yesterday with those circumstances.

Like the 2007 or 2011 Giants?

I missed the part where they were 1-3. They started 0-2 and then won 6 in a row.

the 2011 Giants started 3-1 and were 6-2 before going through this stretch of games:

@SF (13 wins, #2 seed)
Philly
@NO (13 wins, #3 seed)
GB (14 wins, #1 seed)

we're 5 games into the season, not 2 (when the giants turned it on in 07) and we certainly haven't played a murderer's row of teams (like the 2011 giants)

FTR, all of those were one score games except for NO...we could have won a SB that year

ok, and they're not. I mention the 1-3 start to highlight how concerning it was to see them go to OT with tampa bay, a team that lost 56-0.

That was a disappointing effort but the end result was pretty sweet. Bottom line, they have a week to rest players and figure something out with the defense. If there are no adjustments in defensive scheme or defensive personnel, well then "it's gonna be a long year"

Yes, then they lost 4 games in a row.

They were 7-6 and played the Redskins at home and lost by 2 scores. Pretty similar game for them IMO except that it was very late in the season.

And then you brought up how we could easily be 1-4. That is a 2 way street

I have no expectations that this team will turn it around, but it's foolish to cheapen a win over a professional team.

The Bucs may not be great, but they aren't as bad as the team who got thumped by Atlanta. Hell, they just beat the Steelers on the road and they have a good defense.

Not every game is a cake walk.

7-7 - a host of teams with this record have made the playoffs, as you just pointed out, one of them recently won the superbowl.

1-4 - the last team to start 1-4 and even make the playoffs was 12 years ago

the three best teams in the league. the packers who started 14-0, @SF, the best defense in the league, then @NO (at the time, the best offense in NFL history)

numerically, you can make a comparison, but again. It's not the record, it is who they've played and how they've played.
