was the titans #18 EVER a real offer on the table?

has anyone ever heard for certain one way or the other if the titans really did offer us #18 for cooks and if the offer was still there when this trade went down with the patriots?
or is everyone so disappointed in what we got in the cooks deal that they just stopped caring at this point?
im just so shocked at the total absence of any mention of an offer of #18 or "anything else" from the titans when the cooks deal is talked about, that I have to wonder if there ever really was any "real" offer from them and it was all just rumors

Hell no, all our stupid front office could generate from the lowly Titans was probably a 2nd.

Yeah! We should have made them give us the 18 th pick.
Bunch of wimps in our front office. [/sarcasm off]

It was on the table. This patriots trade isn't complete. There is a second piece that is complicated by Butler's RFA status.

what do u mean not complete? no deal complete or not approved by league?
Posted on 3/11/17 at 2:07 pm to AlceeFortier
Yeah I'd like to know how it's not complete

Butler has to sign his tender, then we get him for a 2nd.

Some of you people are fricking drama queens

I don't think there is any second part of any deal or they never would have announced the deal, it isn't a deal if you don't own the rights to a player involved in the deal
where do you guys get this "a second part is coming" ?
just because you cant believe that's all we get doesn't mean somehow magically it will get better
now I sure do hope we can get butler but its not going to be a "second part" of the deal with cooks. I think to us that description is just wrong and misleading about the cooks deal. one deal is done and its final, hopefully we all wish a second deal gets us butler but that is a whole different deal on its own.
its just going to be a new completely separate deal on its own so short of it being a "gentlemen's agreement" to play nice in the next trade, then I just don't see any way this talk isn't just wishful thinking at this point.
also keep in mind that the pats never gave ANY indication they didn't want to keep butler and as far as I am aware of, plus he isn't a bitch like cooks stirring shite in the locker room so why should or would they want to give him up now?

My brother has found a few rumors on a few other boards I think. He's keeping me up to date.
EDIT - my brother referenced OneAngryMidget, which has its own thread in here saying the same.
He also said the useless 4th we sent to the Pats was very possibly a collective middle finger to Goodell To protect the Pats original 4th from being taken by the league.
I have no idea if that's accurate FWIW. I'm not very familiar with deflate gate sanctions.

I don't understand giving away a potential player to protect the Pats' pick makes much sense, even if it means telling Goodell to frick himself. If we can get Butler for a 2 then I'm happy. Front 7 with the two 1sts would be great.

It's not likely this is the case, but if it is, I doubt the Saints really had a say in it. They may have made it a condition.

In this deep defensive draft, a 2nd round pick is almost like a 1st.......... screw Butler and use that second rounder for a selection or trade down if you get 2 players in 1st round you didn't expect.
You can't continue to throw away all our picks that we acquired by trading away quality YOUNG players.

So you're saying not to take a proven player in lieu of an unproven player, though the cost is arguably the same if not less by trading for Butler.
